The U.S. writers strike cost Hollywood an estimated $2.5 billion (GBP1.25 billion), according to the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. The figure includes lost wages from cancelled TV shows and films that were put on hold as well as a plethora of support services, ranging from limo drivers to florists who all suffered major losses during the three-month walkout.
