Authors E.L. DOCTOROW, V.S. NAIPAUL and EVAN S. CONNELL are among the 14 finalists named to this year's (09) Man Booker International Prize shortlist. The $85,000 (GBP60,700) award is given every two years for lifetime achievement by a fiction writer who writes in English, or whose work is widely available in English translation.
