with his signed British Union Flag at a design studio in the Fashion district.
New York City, USA - 10.06.09
Segal is collecting signatures and messages from a host of stars on a Union Jack flag as part of a planned TV documentary and book chronicling what Americans really think of their TransAtlantic cousins, their culture and their food.
Over a month after beginning his quest in Hollywood, the Greeting The 500 author has landed the autographs of Ron Jeremy, top celebrity lawyer Tom Mesereau and pop star Tiffany, among others, and he has appointments with Liza Minnelli and Tommy Hilfiger confirmed in New York in June (09).
Segal tells WENN, This idea started because Americans don't seem to be very popular in the U.K. and I thought it would be interesting to see what they think of us, but that changed slightly because of the sorry state Britain finds itself in with crime and the economy.
So I wrote to all these celebrities in the hope of getting them to sign the Union Jack and offer a message of support - things like, 'Hang in there!'
Segal, whose Greeting The 500 book chronicles a similar project in the U.K. hopes to get 500 stars to sign his flag - and will revisit each and every one with a camera crew to document their thoughts about all things British.
He adds, I'd just like to find out how special this 'special relationship' between the U.K. and the U.S., which (British Prime Minister) Gordon Brown and President Obama talk about really is.
