* Elton John PERFORMING AT MAYAN RUINS Sir Elton John will follow in the footsteps of opera greats Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo when he performs at the archaeological site of Chichen Itza in Mexico later this year (10). The Rocket Man will be taking to the stage at the Mayan ruins on 3 April (10), performing on the north side of the Temple of Kukulkan - also known as El Castillo (the castle) - at the centre of the site. The late Pavarotti sang in the same spot in 1997, while Domingo played at Chichen Itza in 2008. British soprano Sarah Brightman also performed at the historical attraction last year (09). The archaeological site, which dates back to 600 AD, was declared one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007.
