* POLICE CHIEFS: 'FOUL PLAY NOT SUSPECTED IN JACKSON DEATH'
Los Angeles police chiefs investigating the death of pop icon MICHAEL JACKSON have urged fans not to jump to conclusions about his tragic passing after authorities assigned the case to their robbery and homicide department.
The King of Pop suffered a cardiac arrest on Thursday (25Jun09) and was pronounced dead that afternoon, aged 50, after being rushed to UCLA Medical Center in California.
Jackson's body has since been transferred by helicopter to the coroner's office in downtown Los Angeles, where an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death is due to be performed on Friday (26Jun09).
New reports suggest a cocktail of seven prescription drugs could have triggered the Thriller hitmaker's cardiac arrest.
Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's robbery and homicide team are now looking into Jackson's death, but Lieutenant Greg Strenk has stressed that foul play is not suspected.
He says, Robbery/homicide was assigned to this because of the high profile and nature of this case. Don't read into anything as a relation to my team being here. (MT/WNV/IG)
