A beacon at Hemel Hempstead is lit as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. All across the globe 4,150 beacons were lit in Commonwealth countries in honour of Queen Elizabeth II. For only the second time in its history, the UK celebrates the Diamond Jubilee of a monarch. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II celebrates the 60th anniversary of her ascension to The Throne.
