A Week In Movies: 12 Years Rules London, Stars Mourn Hoffman, New Films From Russia, Macfarlane And Gyllenhaal

Awards season finally hit London on Sunday night as Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave collected three top awards at the London Critics' Circle Film Awards: Film of the Year, best actor Chiwetel Ejiofor and supporting actress for Lupita Nyong'o. Winners in attendance included McQueen, supporting actor Barkad Abdi (Captain Phillips), Excellence in Film honouree Gary Oldman, and cast and crew of the double winner The Selfish Giant. In addition, Steve Coogan collected Judi Dench's British actress award, while Andy Serkis read out a hilarious message from Cate Blanchett, who won best actress. The awards ceremony started just a few minutes after it was confirmed that Philip Seymour Hoffman died in New York, and when the announcement was made the audience rose in a spontaneous standing ovation. Over the last few days, the film and theatre communities have been speaking out over Hoffman's untimely death. As the Olympics kick off in Sochi, we have a trailer for one of the biggest epics ever made in Russia. Stalingrad recounts the epic WWII battle for the strategic Volga River city through the eyes of a handful of Russian soldiers, a lonely woman and a conflicted German officer. Seth Macfarlane will be back this summer with a comedy called A Million Ways to Die in the West. A new trailer this week promises a wacky Western starring Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Neil Patrick Harris and MacFarlane himself. It looks pretty hilarious. We have a greenband trailer and TV spot of A Million Ways To Die In The West to watch.

We also had our first look at Enemy, the new thriller by filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, who made last year's hit Prisoners. This film reunites him with Jake Gyllenhaal for what looks like a very creepy story about a guy who sees an actor who looks exactly like him. The trailer promises a churning, slow-burning freak-out. And finally, there was the first trailer for a new Postman Pat movie, which sends the beloved character into a Britain's Got Talent-style competition. It looks like a full-on action comedy musical, with more than a hint of Wallace & Gromit about it. It's in cinemas in May, and features the voices of Stephen Mangan, David Tennant, Rupert Grint and Jim Broadbent. Take a first look at 'Postman Pat: The Movie' here.
