Released January 23rd 2006
Virgin records will be releasing Pharrell Williams' second single "Angel" on January 23rd 2006.
Pharrell Williams has blazed a career to the top of the charts as a mega-platinum producer, songwriter and multi-instrumental musician in the Neptunes and N.E.R.D. His recently completed first solo album, "In My Mind" features guest appearances by Gwen Stefani, Jay-Z, Daddy Yankee, and Slim Thug. The album is released on February 6th and will feature two distinct sides with 7 Hip Hop tracks and 7 R&B tracks.
Around the release of "In My Mind", Pharrell wants to release a hip hop track followed by an R&B track. We have already had the hip hop track ("Can I Have It Like That" featuring Gwen Stefani, which stormed into the charts at no.3), so now its time for the R&B track, "Angel". The single showcases Pharrell's infamous falsetto over some bumping piano chords.
The two tracks, as well as all the music on "In My Mind", were produced by Pharrell, who also played all instrumental parts, and handled programming and mixing duties. Recording sessions took place in Virginia Beach, Miami, and Los Angeles.
