The Freek-A-Leek rapper made his debut in the hip-hop drama as a prison inmate during the season premiere last week (23Sep15).

And in an interview with Raleigh, North Carolina's WRAL news station, Pablo reveals the moment had been 10 years in the making.

The rapper ran into Howard at the premiere party for his movie Hustle & Flow in 2005.

Petey Pablo Freed From Prison

Rapper Petey Pablo has been released from prison.

The star, real name Moses Mortimer Barrett Iii, was sentenced to three years in jail for trying to smuggle a gun through an airport in September, 2011 and he started his jail time in January, 2012.

He was due for release in July (14), but he walked freed from a New Jersey jail early on Thursday morning (13Mar14) and is keen to get back to work.

Petey Pablo Began Three-year Prison Sentence In January

Rapper Petey Pablo is behind bars - and has been for almost two months.

The hitmaker checked into a federal correction institution in West Virginia on 4 January (12), according to documents obtained by Tmz.com.

Pablo, real name Moses Mortimer Barrett Iii, was sentenced to three years in prison for trying to smuggle a gun through an airport last year (Sep11).

He is scheduled be released in July, 2014.

Rapper Petey Pablo has been sentenced to serve 35 months in prison following a firearms conviction in North Carolina.

The Freak-A-Leek star, real name Moses Barrett Iii, was arrested after security officers at Raleigh-Durham International Airport found a loaded gun in his carry-on luggage in September, 2010.

He agreed to plead guilty to possession of a stolen firearm if prosecutors dropped charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and a charge of attempting to take the gun onto an airplane.

The 38 year old was sentenced on Monday (26Sept11).

Petey Pablo Pleads Guilty To Stolen Firearm Possession

Rapper Petey Pablo pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen firearm during a hearing at a North Carolina court on Wednesday (16Mar11).

The star, real name Moses Barrett Iii, handed himself in to authorities after a warrant for his arrest was put out in October (10) in connection with an incident at Raleigh-Durham International Airport in September (10).

Barrett was on his way to the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles when security officers allegedly found a gun in his carry-on luggage.

He was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon and attempting to take the gun onto an airplane.

Rapper Petey Pablo turned himself in to federal authorities in North Carolina on Wednesday (13Oct10) after learning there was a warrant out for his arrest.

The star, real name Moses Barrett III, was wanted in connection to an incident at Raleigh-Durham International Airport last month (Sep10), when security officers allegedly found a gun in his carry-on luggage.

The Freek-a-Leek hitmaker's representative denied the star had any knowledge of the weapon and he was released on $50,000 (£33,000) bail.

However, investigators are convinced Pablo was fully aware of being in possession of "a concealed dangerous weapon that was and would have been accessible to him in flight", and a federal judge signed the warrant for his arrest earlier this week (begs11Oct10), making the star a wanted man.

Rapper Petey Pablo is set to surrender to authorities on Wednesday morning (13Oct10) after cops issued a warrant for his arrest over gun charges.

The hip-hop star - real name Moses Barrett III - was detained at Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina last month (11Sep10) after security officers allegedly found a pistol in his carry-on luggage.

The Freek-a-Leek hitmaker was later released on $50,000 (£33,000) bail.

Pablo's representative claims the pistol does not belong to the star and he forgot the firearm was in his bag after taking it from a pal.
