Irish film legend Peter O'Toole, Hollywood hunk Johnny Depp and Brit beauty Keira Knightley were honoured at this year's (04) IRISH FILM AND TELEVISION AWARDS (IFTAs) on Saturday (30OCT04).

O'Toole was named best supporting actor for his performance in blockbuster Troy, despite labelling the film a "disaster" last month (OCT04), while Depp and Knightley picked up Best International Actor and Actress accolades.

James Bond heart-throb Pierce Brosnan was given an outstanding Irish contribution to cinema at the Dublin ceremony, hosted by BLOODY SUNDAY star James Nesbitt at the Burlington hotel.

Irish lothario Colin Farrell missed out on the Best Actor gong to GERALD McSORLEY, who triumphed following his role in OMAGH, while AE FOND KISS beauty Eva Birthistle took home the Best Actress award.

OSCAR-winning The Lord Of The Rings: THE RETURN OF THE KING was named Best International Film, alongside SONG FOR A RAGGY BOY as Best Irish Film.

Other winners include Ciaran Hinds's Best Television Actor for THE MAYOR OF CASTERBRIDGE and Anne-Marie Duff's best television actress for Shameless.
