Police in Somerset are investigating claims that singer Pete Doherty attacked a photographer.
The photographer claims that the Babyshambles frontman was involved in a scuffle with her after posing for photos.
Cath Mead, 22, said she was left with bruises after the incident and a spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said they were investigating an allegation of common assault.
"We did receive an allegation of common assault following an incident in Crewkerne," the spokesman said.
"A woman in her 20s has claimed she was assaulted by a man in the George shopping centre at 15:00 BST.
"She wasn't seriously injured but it's believed damage was caused to the victim's camera. The incident is being investigated."
It is claimed the scuffle occurred after a photographer took a photo of the singer's friend Irina Lazareanu.
The singer's band Babyshambles releases their new album, Shotter's Nation, on October 1st.
