The Libertines star is currently battling to stay clean after kicking his long-running addictions to heroin and crack cocaine following a stint at a rehab clinic in Thailand last year (14).

He has moved out of Paris, France to enjoy a more sedate lifestyle in the town of Melun, but he has now issued a plea to fans not to try to visit him at the property after the exact location was revealed by a French publication.

Doherty has apparently been spooked by the sight of several strangers hanging around near the home late at night.

A statement from the rocker reads, "Peter recently discussed living in Melun in an interview for a French publication and during a French TV show 'Le Grand Journal' mentioned the small village where he resides.

"For clarity; Peter does spend time there with his girlfriend, who is the tenant of the house, but also has a registered address in the U.K., obviously his time spent in either location works around commitments throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

"Unfortunately, much to our dismay a journalist from another French publication has detailed the exact location of the property in a very innapropriate (sic) and bizarre recent online article.

"Whilst Peter is a public figure he also reserves the right to a private life and if you love and respect him please Do not visit. Since the article was released there have been various sightings of people on the grounds of the house, late at night, which certainly is not appropriate. Please show some love and respect."

Revealing his new life outside of the big city, Doherty previously explained how he is enjoying traditional French pursuits.

"I have more space in Melun," he told Le Parisien newspaper. "My partner and her family are French. And here I like to buy old things in the antique markets and play petanque in my garden."
