Pete Doherty's rock act Babyshambles have been forced to scrap an upcoming Australian tour at the advice of their immigration lawyers.

The band will perform at New South Wales' Splendour in the Grass festival this weekend (26-28Jul13), but gigs in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth have been axed.

A statement from the band reads: "While we're disappointed the tour hasn't worked out this time, we're very excited about playing our new songs at Splendour In The Grass and we're hoping to reschedule the other shows for some time in the not too distant future."

Full details about the group's reasons for cancelling the concerts have not been released, but a spokesperson for promoters Secret Sounds says, "The band will not be touring to other Australian cities on this trip. This is due to various considerations, including advice from our immigration solicitor."
