Grunge gods Pearl Jam have decided to include a track frontman Eddie Vedder wrote on the day discovered his pal Layne Staley from Alice In Chains had died on their upcoming rarities album.

The JEREMY rockers were devastated when it emerged Layne had died of a drug overdose on 5 April 2002 and Vedder immediately set about writing an emotional tribute to his late friend.

The song LOST DOGS can be heard after the final number on the new CD, on which it does not appear in the track listing.

Guitarist STONE GOSSARD says, "It was a real personal song wrote the night we all found he out died. He stayed in there, didn't work on anything else, and worked this song up."
