Remembering Peaches Geldof, Her Life And Career

Peaches Geldof Bob Geldof Paula Yates

The death of Peaches Geldof yesterday has brought on a wave of shock and sadness across social media as people try to come to terms with what was a sudden and unexpected tragedy. At just 25 years old the daughter of Bob Geldof lived a short life which saw her transform from a party girl teen into a devoted wife and mother. Whilst she was born with famous parents, Peaches carved out a career for herself in the media beyond her famous surname, always opinionated and never afraid to express herself, Peaches Geldof was a celebrity whose life encapsulated an often misunderstood generation who were just trying to find themselves.

The second daughter of Live Aid founder Bob Geldof and TV presenter Paula Yates, Peaches was born in the spotlight. Her early life was described as idyllic until her parents separated and her mother tragically died when Peaches was aged just 11. The tragedy of her mother’s untimely death seemed to cast a dark shadow over Peaches, especially during her teenaged years when tabloids constantly drew comparisons between the two during her ‘wilder’ days. Peaches would say herself in her final interview that she had spent years struggling to know herself and “feeling lost at sea, rudderless and troubled” over her mother's death but that becoming a mother herself had helped heal her.
