Singer Paula Abdul and actresses Marlee Matlin and Patty Duke have offered moving tributes to late actor/game show legend Richard Dawson.
The 79-year-old former Family Feud host succumbed to esophageal cancer on Saturday night (02Jun12).
Abdul has taken to Twitter.com to remember Dawson, who starred in U.S. sitcom Hogan's Heroes before fronting the hit quiz show and landing a cameo in Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1987 movie The Running Man.
She writes, "I'm truly saddened by the news of Richard Dawson's passing. My sincere condolences to his family & friends. Such a great loss. I had the privilege of working w/ (with) Richard Dawson on a movie I choreographed called Running Man w/ (with) Arnold Schwarzenegger... Richard Dawson's family, friends & loved ones are in my thoughts & prayers. This (is) a truly, truly great loss. Yes, Richard Dawson was amazing. He'll be sorely missed."
Referring to the trademark kisses Dawson gave his female contestants, Matlin writes, "Ah, the kissing quizmaster of Family Feud has passed away. Rip Richard Dawson. Every 'Survey Says...' was delivered with class," while Duke adds, "Rip Richard Dawson, lot more laughs in heaven now with ur (your) presence. I am grateful for the laughs we had here. Love you."
Rocker Tom Morello tweets, "Rip Richard Dawson, my favourite Family Feud host."
