Paul Weller releases two totally brand new tracks entitled Flame-Out! and The Olde Original recorded exclusively for this year's Record Store Day on Saturday 20th April. One of the most hotly anticipated releases for the event, the double a-side will be released through Virgin Records as a collectable 7"vinyl on the 20th April, with a digital release on the following day available for one month only. The single comes in a Virgin house bag featuring the 'Virgin Twins Logo' designed by quintessential 70s album sleeve artist Roger Dean.
Wild and experimental, 'Flame-Out!' would sit well with the other tunes on the recent Sonik Kicks album and is fast paced rock-out Weller at his best. 'The Olde Original' lowers the tempo and makes for the perfect mellow soundtrack for the spring of 2013.
Still an avid record buyer and visitor to independent record shops, Paul says "It's great to do a record that's released specifically for Record Store Day. There's so few record shops left that we should all treasure those remaining".
Record Store Day takes place on Saturday April 20th and will see over 200 independent record stores the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland taking part. The stores will be holding a variety of in store events and making a number of exclusive releases available on the day. Now in its sixth year, Record Store Day is a celebration of the culture, the community and the spirit of the indie record shop. Since its inception, the day has grown in prominence to become one of the real highlights of the year for music and vinyl lovers everywhere. Record Store Day came into being in 2007 when independent record stores in the USA came together to celebrate their unique culture. The UK followed suit in 2008 and 2013 will see the sixth celebration of the UK's record shops. Record Store Day sees exclusive product made available and hundreds of artists across the globe make special appearances in-store. Festivities include performances, meet & greets with artists, DJ's, in store quizzes and many other events.
