Mod icon Paul Weller insists the image of the 'swinging sixties' is a myth - as he grew up poor and miserable during the supposedly liberated decade. The WILD WOOD star's modest childhood in fashion capital London was far from free and easy. He says, "There was a kind of isolation; we were very insular and my mum and dad were only young. "People go on about the sixties. Well, they weren't swinging everywhere. Not everyone was liberated; quite the opposite from what I saw growing up as a kid. "The only reason we eventually had a bathroom was 'cos my old man knocked a f**king hole through the wall in the kitchen and built one."
