Shamed actor Paul Reubens has launched an appeal in a bid to clear his name as a sex offender.
The troubled star, 51, had child pornography charges against him dropped last month (MAR04) in return for agreeing to be added to a three-year sex offenders list.
The plea agreement came with the option to appeal his conviction, and the PEE-WEE HERMAN star plans to take it.
His legal team has already filed paperwork declaring its intention to appeal.
The actor was arrested in 2002 after a police raid on his California home led to them confiscating thousands of items they deemed to be indecent.
Reubens maintains the items were nothing more than "kitschy" exhibits in his art collection.
He says, "I don't want anyone for one second to think that I'm titillated by images of children. It's not me.
"The public may think I'm weird, they may think I'm crazy... that's all fine, as long as one of the things you're not thinking about me is that I'm a paedophile - because that's not true."05/04/2004 09:13
