Funnyman Patton Oswalt has waded into the 'rape row' engulfing U.S. politician Todd Akin, branding the congressman an "a**Hole" over his remarks.
Akin, a Republican party Senate candidate, sparked fury over the weekend (18-19Aug12) when he suggested it would be rare for a sex attack victim to fall pregnant if the incident was a "legitimate rape".
His comments provoked a storm of protest and a wave of calls for him to back out of the U.S. election campaign, and now comedian/actor Oswalt has spoken out to denounce Akin for his remarks.
In a post on Twitter.com, Oswalt writes, "There's now a public debate in this country where people are parsing what 'rape' is. Thanks, Todd Akin. You A**Hole."
