Actor Patrick Swayze rejected countless TV roles before he signed up to star in forthcoming series THE BEAST - because he considered television a step-down for a Hollywood movie star.
The Ghost actor is scheduled to continue filming the show until November of this year (08).
But he admits it took years of convincing to return to the small screen after his success in blockbuster films.
He tells the New York Times, “I thought I was (Robert) De Niro... If I'm going to do television, I wanted that (1985 mini-series) North and South experience. I wanted something that’s going to challenge me on a constant basis.
"To be honest, I've made a game out of trying to live through my James Dean, Janis Joplin, Freddie Prinze, Jim Morrison period, those demons that we all have that we're either successful or not at making (it) work for us rather than destroy us.”
