Do you believe in climate change? Do you want to help the conservation of the only planet we know to be able to sustain human life? Do you cycle to work and recycle glass and cardboard with a view to being a more sensible resident of earth? Well you’re an unpatriotic racist.

Just to be clear, those aren’t our views, but the views of Pat Sajak – the host of “Wheel of Fortune”. “I now believe global warming alarmists are unpatriotic racists knowingly misleading for their own ends. Good night,” tweeted Sajak in a remarkable outburst of opinion. We’d like to know more about the “now believe” part – who or what turned him on to this particular point of view!?

Climate scientist Michael E. Mann was one of the many to take the bait and respond. “Hey @PatSajak, this aint the Wheel of Fortune,” Mann wrote. “If we lose this game, it isn't just one person's misfortune. All humanity pays the price.” But Sajek turned up the wind-up-o-meter by suggesting he was just fishing for controversy. “Sometimes it's fun to poke a stick in a hornets' nest just to hear the buzzing,” he tweeted.

And this isn’t the first time Sajak has made his feelings on global warming known on the social networking site. Earlier this month, he tweeted: “Very hot weather: ‘We’re all going to die!” Very cold weather: ‘There’s a difference between climate & weather, moron!”

And later on (May 21) we'll be treated to some more political comments. "Later today I'll be tweeting my views on the subjects of nuclear proliferation and free-range chicken," Sajak added.
