Foster aired her thoughts on the cheating scandal surrounding the Twilight star in a lengthy commentary for news website TheDailyBeast.com on Wednesday (15Aug12), blasting the media for constantly hounding Stewart as she tries to deal with the public fall-out from her "indiscretion" with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.
The Oscar winner, a former child star herself, sympathised with Stewart's personal troubles, writing, "There’s no guilt in acknowledging the human interest in public linens. It’s as old as the hills. Lift up beautiful young people like gods and then pull them down to earth to gaze at their seams. See, they’re just like us. But we seldom consider the childhoods we unknowingly destroy in the process."
Foster also urged Stewart to stay strong, ignore the media storm and battle through her problems to rebuild her career - and the 49 year old's words of advice have won the movie veteran praise from the likes of Lowe and Glee creator Murphy.

The Twilight superstar played Foster's daughter in the 2002 thriller, but the Oscar winner admits she was convinced the shy actress wasn't cut out for a long career in film.
Foster says, "She's a great person, and I'm not surprised she's gone on to do great things. But I am surprised she is an actress. I didn't think that's where she was headed. And even though her mom said, 'No, she really really wants to be an actress,' I felt like, nah, she won't because she really doesn't have the stereotypical personality."
Hollywood hunk-turned-rocker Jared Leto has slated pop rivals The Killers - insisting they are just a pale copy of Depeche Mode.
The Panic Room actor is having the time of his life with his band 30 SECONDS TO MARS, but he's already making enemies after admitting he's not keen on the Las Vegas synth rockers' frontman Brandon Flowers.
He says, "They copy Depeche Mode, even up to what they wear. But Brandon Flowers doesn't come close to Dave Gahan."
Actor Jared Leto piled on so much weight to play John Lennon's killer Mark David Chapman in a new film doctors were seriously worried about his cholesterol.
The Panic Room star guzzled two pints of microwaved Häagen-Dazs ice-cream daily to play the chubby assassin in CHAPTER 27, and gained a speedy 65 pounds (29.5 kilograms) in the process.
As a result, Leto suffered from gout and his cholesterol levels shot up.
He says, "My cholesterol was so high they (doctors) wanted to put me on Lipitor (prescription cholesterol medication).
"I took a wheelchair to set every morning because I couldn't walk more than a few feet without excruciating pain."
Actor-turned-rocker Jared Leto turned down the opportunity to star in Clint Eastwood's upcoming war movie FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS to play support US band The Used on tour.
Leto, who has starred in Requiem for a Dream and Panic Room, has no regrets turning down the legendary film-maker, because he had already committed to promoting his band 30 SECONDS TO MARS' second album A BEAUTIFUL LIE.
He says, "I look back at the things I had to say no to, and no one in their right mind...
"Clint Eastwood wanted me for Flags Of Our Fathers last year (05). And I had to say no, because we were booked to open for The Used. It wasn't even the main support slot, but the third band on the bill.
"People did not understand how I could say no to Clint. But the record was coming out and I was committed."
