Questions

Us3 are back and those that were around during the Acid Jazz days should remember them. ‘Questions’ is said to deal with more personal issues than their previous album ‘An Ordinary Day...’ however it still has all the blend of Latin-influenced acid jazz hip-hop groove that makes them so special.

Us3 have two new vocalists with super sexy stylish Mpho laying exquisite jazz-funk vocals and Brooklyn born and bred Reggi Wyns

Us3 - Questions - Album Review

flexing his jazzy Tribe style raps. They’re both excellent providing lyrics that are conscious, deep and they compliment the music very well. It’s all about positivity, peace and soul that makes this album uplifting and really smooth. British girl Mpho has already worked with great artists such as Ty and Miss Dynamite and we can see she is a definite talent. She has that Eryka Badu sultry style and Wyns holds well as a good MC.

The music is really good. It imbodies all the sounds of progressive jazz, a good dose of hip hop and a distinct Latin sound due to the South American percussion and piano sounds. It still holds true to that Acid Jazz sound however it’s more progressive now. It all sounds cool and funky that is laid back and groovy, easy to absorb and nice to chill out to.

‘Questions’ is a good album. Music lovers should like this as all the aspects to the songs are delivered well and it has a mature sound. One could easily relax to this or stick it on at a dinner party.
