Album Review

The Motorettes for as long as being on the music scene they have done everything with there close mate Kubichek!. They have toured together, done some more tours together, released a 7" together, and another CD single where they have covered each other's songs. So it surprises me that The Motorettes are set to release their debut album without fellow Geordies Kubichek!

The self-titled album by The Motorettes kicks off straight into action with Super Heartbeats. There is nothing like a highly charged fast track, which at the same time brings in stop - start guitar riffs and not to mention that final chord that you hear just fading away. The next track 'You Gotta Look The Parts' must be named wrong; I mean it should be named You Gotta Sound The Parts, because this does indeed it does sound the part, and could be The Motorettes signature! For The Motorettes however it is third time unlucky as far as the third track is concerned! Go! Go! Gadget Girl is a typical American Indie Pop sounding track. Heard it all before and was not that impressed with it the first time around.

Heart. stop. ing and I Hate To See You Cry is The Motorettes taking a different direction, which is good to see cause they are not playing it, safe. These tracks are more of ballad tracks. Then towards the end of the album we get back to the fast hyper tracks in the shape of Relax, It's The 80s.

The Motorettes are new breed that are ready to entertain us with their high energetic catchy Indie Pop tracks, and shoe that you can do it without looking as geeky or singing about crap, like McFly and Bustered. A Geordie revolution is here and even though The Motorettes have not released their debut album along side Kubichek!, I am sure that it won't be long before they follow the same path.
