The Lights
Neighbours

The front cover of this single has a picture of Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue with reference to the Australian TV soap opera ‘Neighbours’ and I thought it would be a remix of that catchy but irritating theme tune. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that The Lights are a laid back bunch into funk music. This track has all the right instruments involved: jazzy keys, plinky synth sounds, lazy electric guitar, sassy sax, funky bass and a nice drum sound for the rhythm. It creates a funk inspired track that has a pop influence similar to The Brand New Heavies. All in all it’s an infectious tune that has a feel good factor. The music is tight and the vocals work well on the track with a catchy chorus. Positive.
