On 18 April Virgin Records will release Young Man, Old Man (You Ain’t Better Than The Rest), the first single from The Dissociatives forthcoming eponymous titled debut album.

Young Man, Old Man.. perfectly showcases Daniel and Paul’s different musical backgrounds, creating a beautiful stew of sophisticated, contemporary pop music. Daniel brings his melodic understanding and songwriting abilities to mix perfectly with Paul’s brew of electronic music. Paul is an undisputed master of the genre in Australia and has worked with acts such as INXS, Powderfinger and film-maker Baz Luhrman.

Young Man, Old Man.. is taken from their debut album, The Dissociatives. In 2003, after Daniel had spent 2002 immobilised with reactive arthritis, the pair got together to write and record ‘The Dissociatives’. They elected to produce the disc themselves. All the music was written jointly with Daniel subsequently penning the words and melodies. They recorded the basic tracks in London then a few months later they regrouped in Sydney and Newcastle to finish it off.

Between them they have racked up incredible achievements. Daniel’s Silverchair’s Australian success translated internationally with their ‘Frogstomp’ album, hitting the US Top 10 and selling over 2.5 million copies. Paul Mac has been named Dance Artist of the Year in Rolling Stone and won several Australian Dance Music Awards. Both artists are multiple ARIA Awards ( Australia’s Grammy).
