Following on from their top 40 singles triumph (number 32 w/c 22 June) with the staggeringly cool ‘Take it and Run’, The Bandits seem set to scale even greater chart heights with the release of the excellent ‘2 Step Rock’.
Launched on September 1st via their own Centro del Blanco label through B – Unique Records, the single will be available on two CDs and limited edition 7”.
Best described as a punchy little rock 'n' roll number, ‘2 Step Rock’ was born out of the sounds and people of the Bandwagon club nights. This now notorious club, founded and run by The Bandits, has not only become the epicenter of the resurgent Liverpool scene (being home to many a local band), but has also played host to a revitalized Noel Gallagher solo show, a punked-up reggae party (courtesy of the Mad Professor) as well as playing noticeable parts in the careers of the Libertines and the Music - to name but two!
The Bandits run the Bandwagon nights with the same vision, nous and enthusiasm that informs their own music. These qualities are perfectly captured not only on the new single, but also on their eagerly awaited debut album entitled “And They Walked Away”.
Set for release on 15th September, the album has been produced by the legendary Chris Kimsey - a man’s whose previous credits include the Rolling Stones, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh, Killing Joke and Ash. Full details of the album will be announced shortly.
As well as their chart success, the band recently crowned their last run of UK Touring with a storming set at Glastonbury as well as equally impressive shows at T in the Park and Witness. Two prestigious supports for Paul Weller in Liverpool and Aberdeen kick start the next stage of touring, featuring appearances at both Reading and Leeds on the 23rd and 24th August respectively.
