Kings Of Convenience - "Failure" Single Review

News & Reviews
1. Kings Of Convenience Failure (12" - (Source))
Our two favourite Norwegian Kings of Convenience return with another single lifted from their twee debut soiree Quiet Is The New Loud. This, the re-recorded version of Failure, sticks faithfully to the Simon and Garfunkel agenda whilst purifying the beats and adding deeper basslines and trumpets galore.
The vibe is (for those old enough to remember) a little less Trumpton-like than its forerunner Toxic Girl but the distinctive velvet vocals remain reassuringly prominent. Royskopp provides an apt mix of I Dont Know What I Can Save You From, taking this duo about as far as they dare to tread in danceland, where build-ups and crescendos are handled with kid gloves.
