Muse - Butterflies and Hurricane - Single Review

Muse
Butterflies and Hurricanes

Following an explosive performance at this year’s Glastonbury festival, Muse have come right back at us with an incredible fourth single from their album Absolution.

Butterflies and Hurricanes takes you on a bizarre rollercoaster journey. It builds and builds and grabs at your emotions, tosses and turns you until it reaches its crescendo and spits you out at the other end, exhausted, enthralled and gagging for a second round.

Muse - Butterflies and Hurricane - Single Review

Whatever you do, turn up your volume as loud as possible, the dynamics of this track and sheer classical ability of this band deserve to be appreciated to their utmost and are perhaps most clearly illustrated during the Liberace-esque interlude during the middle section of the track.

Butterflies and Hurricanes is classic Muse, jam-packed with drama and theatrics matched only by true talent. Buy this record, whether you actually like it or not, you can’t fail to be impressed.

8/10
