Maximo Park- Graffiti - Single Review
Maximo Park
Release Date: 2 May 2005

The fact that Newcastle’s group Maximo Park are label mates with Aphex Twin has little to do with electronic sounds or any sort of programmed beats. It’s more to do with their originality and edge, something that makes this band a cut above the rest. After the success of ‘Apply Some Pressure’, and while waiting for new album ‘A Certain Trigger’ to be released in May, here they come with second single ‘Graffiti’. Rock guitars and

intentionally raw production aside, the secret vibe of the track captures the listener with its crescendo, while singer Paul Smith – armed with that cute Geordie accent – melts hearts when he screams “I’ll do graffiti and you’ll sing to me in French”. Spraying out walls has never been more romantic.
