Indian Summer

Single Review

In some ways this is classic, by the numbers Manic Street Preachers. Catchy, picked riffs and a chorus with a "dah dah-dah" refrain not unlike A Design For Life. Does what it says on the tin etc. Trouble is, James Dean Bradfield actually sounds positive and cheerful. It's just not right really. Imagine Dracula in a white cloak, or Jack Dee laughing - doesn't work does it?

To be fair, this is a superbly crafted song that illustrates the way in which a quality band can mature whilst remaining musically coherent and true to themselves. Rather than disappear into mediocrity, it would appear that the Manic Street Preachers are resolved to stick around for while yet.
