Lockdown Project
Album Review

The new Lockdown project starts with a brooding deep latin theme and then comes the potent funk character that is the Lockdown Project. A definite energy with a true British stamp. They can play, that’s for sure. A tight band with a strong Spanish guitar essence, roaming around their blend of hip hop fusion.

Lockdown Project - Album Review

There’s all sorts going on here. You can’t escape the original sound of the Spanish guitar, especially for this type of music. The latin style isn’t backed by a strong percussion so it fits with the laid back drums. Simple, funky, crossover rhythms is the back-line. A definite ska influence. The question is do you guys kick ass? I’m not sure? You’ve certainly got energy and personality. The angst needs a bit of smoothing and grooming. You can sing well and we relate to you. The freestyle has got energy. Mmm?

This album is good. It’s got a lot of different shades. Upbeat street fuelled deliveries and sweet Incubus style harmonies. It’s got an edge that is it’s own. Alas it’s not rza razor sharp and fits too well in the cabinet. Get to Parliament and then you might have a light sabre. Hmm?
