New single ‘The Spell’
Released May 30 th

The Spell, the first single from Leaves forthcoming album The Angela Test, bears all the hallmarks of this Icelandic band’s distinctive and compelling sound.

Like the rest of the album, due for release 15 August 2005, The Spell had an interesting evolution. Leaves underwent a major line up change in 2003 and with all five band members contributing to the album tracks, each brought their own musical influences to the table. The Spell, whilst still retaining

Leaves signature layered sound and deft, intricate arrangements, has a certain Germanic flavour, a result of the band going back into the studio after seeing Kraftwerk play in their hometown of Reykjavik.

Available on cd and 7” vinyl, The Spell is backed with two new tracks not featured on the album. Do I Sink?, an original Leaves composition reminiscent of Pink Floyd in it’s spatial, melancholic grooves and ‘Til I Die, Leaves version of a Beach Boys song from Surfs Up, are both featured on the cd whilst Do I Sink? is included on the 7”.

Leaves will be previewing tracks from The Angela Test throughout May during their support dates with Thirteen Senses and Supergrass. The band will also play headline gigs at London’s Buffalo Bar on May 19 th, Bristol Louisiana May 28 th and Oxford Zodiac on May 30th. Full list of dates as follows:

Leaves made a considerable impact with their debut album Breathe which secured them across-the-board critical acclaim on its release in 2002. Since then a change of line up and record label has served to consolidate the group and resulted in an equally impressive follow up in The Angela Test due to be released 15 August 2005.
