Idlewild return to the fray next Spring, March 7 th with Warnings/ Promises, their first album to feature the talents of new bassist Gavin Fox and longtime live guitarist Allan Stewart. Recorded in Los Angeles with Tony Hoffer (Beck, Air, Phoenix), it finds the Scottish firebrands re-energised by a Summer spent touring America's stadia alongside Pearl Jam, and displaying an ambition and ability they've only hitherto hinted-at and now realised. The first single from the album will be the opening track on the album, ‘Love Steals Us From Loneliness’ out February 21 st.

Their fifth album, Warnings/ Promises sounds like the work of a new band. And, in many ways, it is: it's the first Idlewild album to be written collaborativelyn as a five piece. The music is, in essence, classic Idlewild – but broader, deeper, darker and more colourful. The sound of a band who want to be heard.

Idlewild formed in Edinburgh in the Winter of 1995, around the core trio of Roddy Woomble, RodJones, and drummer Colin Newton. Later accompanied by bassist Bob Fairfoull, they made a messy crash on the live scene with their combustible live shows, though even their earliest recordings betrayed a tenderness and intelligence they've proceeded to explore further with every record. Some of today's most exciting new British rock bands were raised on the righteous clatter of their early albums. With 2002's The Remote Part, the band scored their biggest success yet, entering the Uk chart at no.3 with what was, at the time, their most mature, cohesive music yet.

Recently, Roddy moved from London to New York's East Village, while the rest of the band reside in and around the Uk and Eire. Currently, the band are ensconced in their rehearsal rooms in the Highlands, honing their songs and musicianship in anticipation of touring what is the best Idlewild album yet..
