Keep Your Hands Off My Girl

Single Review

Having made their breakthrough at the turn of the Millennium, this band that features twins Joel and Benji Madden who are now on their forth album, the imminently released 'Good Morning Revival'. Not for the first time, production duties are handed to Don Gilmore, who has also worked with Linkin Park and Avril Lavigne.

What is immediately surprising about 'Keep Your Hands...' is how un-punk rock it actually is. The distorted riff and drumming give the track a dance flavour, which is further aided by Joel Madden's sub-rap vocals. It might display a serious side that the band aren't often associated with, but it is at the expense of the key element that made their music accessible - fun. Not a sing-a-long or bouncy track, it's nearly as much a career suicide attempt as Robbie Williams' "Rudebox".

I have to disagree with you there... it is very different from their normal 'Anthem' and 'Ghost of You' but it doesnt sound dull... it sounds different... it sounds like they wanted change. Have you heard 'The River'? That's much different from 'Keep Your Hands Off My Girl'... they jump around in this CD and if you're a true fan you'll like it no matter what.As for career suicide? I've been to one of their recent concert... and 'Keep Your Hands Off My Girl' and 'Misery' were both hits... everyone in the crowd loved them. And why? Because they are true fans... but you people wouldnt understand what a true fan is would you?

Not the best single GC have done and personally does not give credit to what Benji and the boys can do. Disappointed with the sound they have come up with for there much anticipated first single - not their best. I understand bands have to grow and mature but thought the single was very dull - sorry guys!
