'Undercover' is the second single to be taken from her critically-acclaimed new album 'The Roads Don't Love You'.
Following the release of her Mercury-nominated debut 'Night On My Side' in 2002 Gemma moved to Los Angeles to recruit a producer and musicians to record and play with on its follow-up. "I'd just heard there was a really good music scene in LA, some great musicians," says Gemma. "Plus, I was kind of curious about seeing the place."
Once there she was introduced to drummer Joey Waronker by mutual friend Nigel Godrich. Joey was traditionally known for his drumming work with R.E.M., Beck and Johnny Cash amongst others, but here turned his hand to production (for only the second time, the first being on Lisa Germano's 'Lullaby For Liquid Pig'). After assembling a band of musicians she admired through their individual work with PJ Harvey, Beck and Remy Zero, work on 'The Roads Don't Love You' commenced, with Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, Beck, Air) on hand for mixing duties.
As well as garnering rave reviews for 'The Roads Don't Love You' Gemma has been nominated for a Meteor - Ireland's most prestigious music award.
