|Strange But Beautiful|
Aqualung release their debut single 'Strange and Beautiful' (Ill Put A Spell On You) on September 16th. Aqualung is in fact one Matt Hales, a singer/songwriter from London who previously fronted local outfits Ruth and The 45's.
'Strange and Beautiful' will be familiar to many people as the haunting and much in-demand soundtrack to the current VW Beetle TV and Cinema ad, which has generated huge amounts of interest since it was first aired earlier in the summer.
Retailers and radio stations alike were inundated with enquiries about the song, and a record label bidding war swiftly followed. The single soon reached 'record of the week' status on Mark and Lard's Radio 1 show.
After the single release, Hales makes his eagerly anticipated B-Unique/WEA album debut on September 30th with the 11 track 'Strange And Beautiful'.
Hales first solo outing is a self-written/produced affair. Other album cuts include Falling Out Of Love, Tongue-Tied, Gentle and Halfway To The Bottom.
Aqualung is the singular brainchild of the multi-talented Hales, whose compositions have already been requisitioned by organisations as varied as the Tate Modern and Mitsubishi Cars.
