Roll Wid Us

Akala has been causing a buzz on the underground since his rhyming style first surfaced on the white label ‘War’/ ‘Banga 4 Da Streets’ last year and he’s also supported 50 Cent on his UK tours. The 21 year old North Londoner cites Jay Z as being his biggest influence and his street style, poetic flow and intelligent delivery could make an impression overseas. He certainly has a venom that makes a good MC and his wordplay is solid with genuine deep thought. ‘Roll Wid Us’ is an anthem about young people overcoming struggles to triumph against all odds. Lyrics like “get whitewashed like black history” show the seriousness of Akala. The beats have a straight hip hop style with

strings in the mix to add to the edginess of this track. Other remixes on this single feature UK grime at it’s best with Dexplicit stepping up to the desk and MC’s Riko, Jammer Ears and Baby Blue blasting down the mic. What’s clear is that Akala is a dangerous MC who will compete with the best of the UK’s MC’s. Bring it on!
