January 21st 2008 sees the release of 'Chasing Pavements' - the first full single from Adele. Born in Tottenham and raised in Brixton, 19 year old Londoner Adele has been songwriting and playing guitar since she was 14.
Blues tinged and melancholic, Adele describes 'Chasing Pavements' as 'It's me being hopeful for a relationship that's very much over. The sort of relationship you hate when you're in it, but miss when you're not'. A hymn to lost love and regret, 'Chasing Pavements' follows Adele's first limited edition single 'Hometown Glory'.
Citing her influences as diverse as Etta James, Jill Scott, Bjork, Dusty Springfield, Billy Bragg, Billie Holiday, Jeff Buckley, The Cure and Peggy Lee, Adele also recently completed her first solo UK tour, having toured previously with the likes of Jack Penate, Jamie T, Raul Midon, Amos Lee and Devendra Banhart. She will be playing a selection of dates between now and January.
'Chasing Pavements' will be available on CD, 7' vinyl and download and will be released on XL Recordings. The single will include Adele's version of the Sam Cooke track 'That's It, I Quit, I'm Movin' On'. Both 'Chasing Pavements' and 'Hometown Glory' are featured on her debut album '19', which is released on Monday January 28th.
'Chasing Pavements' is released as a download on Sunday 13th January and on CD, 7' vinyl on Monday January 21st on XL Recordings.
