Paris. For some months a gang of armed raiders has been operating with impunity and unprecedented violence. The Head of the CID, Robert Mancini (André Dussollier) has openly told his two immediate lieutenants, Lo Vrinks (Daniel Auteuil), head of the Anti-Gang Squad, and Denis Klein (Gérard Depardieu), head of the Organised Crime Unit, that whoever brings the gang down will replace him as the boss at 36 Quai des Orfévres, The French equivalent of Scotland Yard. The fight is now on between these two supercops, once friends but now at odds over everything: their lives, their methods, their men - and a woman, Camille Vrinks (Valeria Golino).
