Outkast rapper ANDRE 3000 is using his creative skills to take his career into a whole new realm - children's movies.

The HEY YA! hitmaker, real name Andre Benjamin, has signed a deal with NICKELODEON and MTV to star in a new NICK MOVIES film called THE HIT, which he will also co-produce.

The star says, "I've noticed that kids, they're looking up to the Jay-Zs, they're looking up to OutKasts. So kids' movies and cartoons, they're getting smarter... because it seems like kids are cooler.

"They called me about a project that wasn't even a script at the time. They pitched the idea to me and I loved it."

The deal also gives MTV NETWORKS the option to produce feature films and TV projects by Andre 3000 - and he has a lot of ideas to develop.

He adds, "Even with videos, I've always been involved with writing the concept and writing the narrative. I felt like I had something to offer to the film world."

The movie is about a young boy seeking a new wife for his father, who discovers his next-door neighbour is Cupid.
