Oscar G - Live From NYC Album Review

When you do a bit of research on Oscar G it becomes clear what an amazing contribution to dance music this artist has made. With a career spanning from the early 90's with Murk and a residency at Club Space in Miami, Oscar G has been at the leading edge of dance music, pushing the boundaries and evolving progressive sounds.

'Live From NYC' is released on Nervous Records and we get two CD's for the price of one. CD1 plays his set 'Live From NYC' with all the atmosphere of a great New York club night. CD2 has his original beats, produced by Oscar G. CD1 is a great album to listen to if you're about to go out to a club as it really gets you in the mood. With all Oscar G's musical experience and history this set is no light lunch! It has the punch of a seriously experienced DJ and producer with the highs and lows of a set that shows you how emotional this dance ride can be. CD2 illustrates what a great producer Oscar G is as each track is delivers and has serious depth to it. A lot of quality on this double album for sure.

What's really clear for me listening to 'Live From NYC' is the genius of Oscar G. The set performed at NYC has lots of cool artists like King Britt, Miami Hustlers and High Frequency however when you listen to CD2 you realise what Oscar G has brought to the set from his own production to make it totally unique to him. It shows the depth and enthusiasm that the experienced DJ's can do to illustrate why they're a cut above the rest. Don't get me wrong 'Live From NYC' may not be everyone's cup of tea as it's punchy, in your face and relentless, but as a dance artist, Oscar G certainly has my respect. Cool stuff!
