Oprah Winfrey will present American TV series THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW until 2011, after signing a new three-year-deal.

Winfrey has become one of US television's highest paid women, with a personal fortune estimated in excess of GBP1billion (GBP548 million) thanks to the EMMY award-winning series - which began in 1986 - she initially planned to retire from the programme in 2006, but decided to stay after an increase in the show's ratings.

The 50-year-old star says, "It's been distributed to 107 countries and has been a top-rated talk show in the US for the past 18 years. The thought of taking the show to its 25th anniversary is both exhilarating and challenging."

Presenters Ellen Degeneres, MAURY POVICH and Wayne Brady are tipped as possible successors to her position when her contract ends.
