There had been rumours floating around, but now it has been confirmed that Del Boy and Rodney will definitely be back on TV as an Only Fools And Horses short has been green-lit by the BBC. Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst will both return to the show for the one-off short, which will air in March as part of Sports Relief.

The beloved UK sitcom, regularly voted the nation's favourite, will see the return of Del Boy and Rodders to their South London stomping ground in a "a short Only Fools and Horses sketch," which was confirmed by a BBC spokesperson this week. A statement from the network read: "There are plans afoot for a short Only Fools and Horses sketch for Sport Relief. Further details will be announced in the build up to the appeal night on March 21."

Created by John Sullivan in 1981, the show ran for seven seasons from then until 1991, with a number of Christmas Specials and spin-offs being produced subsequently. Following the untimely death of Sullivan in 2006, it looked as though the show had well and truly ended with 2003's Christmas special 'Sleepless in Peckham,' however it now seems as though there is still life left in the Trotter's Independent Trading Company.

The show is still popular today

Last month, David Jason, who plays Del Boy on the show, spoke about the future of the show and hinted that it will be back at some point, mentioning that Sullivan's two sons, Jim and Dan, will be working on the new script. Although the next outing for the Trotters will only be a sketch, don't be surprised to see the BBC cashing in on the show with another season, providing the sketch is a success and they get everyone back on board.
