It looks as though One Direction star Zayn Malik was getting withdrawal symptoms almost immediately after leaving his beloved Twitter. 36 hours ago, the Yorkshire-born star announced that he was leaving the micro-blogging website after receiving tirades of abuse - but fear not 1D fans, he's back!

Zayn took to Twitter on Thursday (August 23, 2012) to tell followers, "Sorry, I was getting some abuse on twitter but I dont want to let my fans down.So I am back!! :) x". Hurrah. Zayn was predictably inundated with a flurry of welcome-back messages from fans who were no doubt weeping into their keyboards on Tuesday when he told them, "The reason I don't tweet as much as I use to, is because I'm sick of all the useless opinions and hate that I get daily goodbye twitter :)".

The guys from One Direction have been teasing fans all week with news of a 'special announcement', that was finally revealed on Thursday. The X Factor super-group will follow up their massive debut album 'Up All Night' with a brand new single 'Live While We're Young' set to drop in October. The band's second album will hit shelves in November 2012. Delivering the massive news in a video message, singer Louis Tomlinson told fans, "We want to say a massive 'thank you' to you guys, 'cause we wouldn't be where we are today without you, so thank you".
