Fans appear to have forgiven One Direction for their recent smoking scandal as they hit Edinburgh for a record-breaking show.
On Tuesday night (3 June 2014) One Direction took to the stage at Edinburgh Murrayfield Stadium for thousands of Scottish 1D fans, as their 'Where We Are Stadium Tour 2014' arrived in the country's capital.
Despite a lot of fans claiming to have abandoned the band after a video of members Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson smoking marijuana in Peru was uploaded, it seems the British boyband still have fans aplenty, as they broke the record for the biggest single show in Scottish history with 64,000+ fans almost filling the 67,800 capacity venue.
One Direction thrilled fans in Edinburgh with sell-out show
Concert-goers were treated to a number of hits from the 1D discography, with a 20+ setlist, including 'Live While We're Young', 'Midnight Memories' and 'Kiss You'. Saving the best for last, their main set closed with 'What Makes You Beautiful', while 'Story Of My Life' and 'Best Song Ever' were included in the encore.
Harry Styles had a sore throat throughout the evening, admitting he wasn't feeling too well and was struggling to even talk. It may have weakened the show a little as he invited the crowd to 'sing some of the parts for me', however the huge and loyal One Direction crowd were certainly up to the sing-a-long task without Styles' asking. The show was reinforced by huge screens with visual patterns, streamers and, in traditional Scottish manner, incredible fireworks to help entertain the audience.
Harry was grateful for fan participation after developing a sore throat
Despite the vocal problems, the fans seemed pleased with the hit heavy show and stage production, going home no doubt immensely satisfied. The group will next play Wembley stadium three nights in a row (6-8 June 2014) and will hit Australia and Japan in February 2015. Let's see if they do just as well in London as they did in Edinburgh!
