After Louis and Zayn’s twitter spat the band are looking to move on with an awards show appearance.
One Direction will be appearing at next weekend’s Billboard Music Awards, in their first public outing since Zayn Malik quit the band back in March. Billboard have confirmed that Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan will all be in attendance at the ceremony, where they will be presenting a trophy.
One Direction, now without Zayn Malik.
The group will surely be hoping to put recent dramas behind them with the appearance as they step out for the first time as a fourpiece. Last month former member Zayn Malik made his first public appearance since leaving the band, at the Asian Awards in London.
Zayn and his producer Naughty Boy hit the headlines last week when they were involved in a twitter spat with One Direction member Louis Tomlinson. Zayn later tweeted that he was just ‘defending himself’ during the online argument, while Louis thanked the band’s fans for their support.
But according to tabloid reports the Louis/Zayn twitter fight didn't go down too well with the other One Direction members, in particular Harry Styles. “Harry is very aware of 1D's reputation and doesn't like getting into any public scrapes, especially with other members of the band,” a source told Britain’s Mirror newspaper.
"It's fair to say his relationship with Louis has been strained for some time and the last couple of weeks hasn't helped matters,” the source added. The band are currently working on their fifth album in Los Angeles, while Zayn is working on solo material in London.
This year’s Billboard award ceremony takes place on May 17th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Ludacris and Chrissy Teigen will be hosting, while performances already announced include Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea performing their duet ‘Pretty Girls’.
