The British singers left their fans heartbroken when it was revealed they are going on a year-long break in March (16) following the release of their fifth album.

Bandmate Niall Horan was the first to address the reports on Twitter.com, writing, "We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year."

Tomlinson and Payne have now broken their silence to thank fans and to continue reassuring them the hiatus does not mark the end of the fourpiece.

Tomlinson writes, "Your support is truly indescribable! It's just a break we're not going anywhere!!... Promise" and Payne adds, "So glad everything has been cleared up today and ur (your) support with it is amazing not that we could ever expect anything less your (sic) amazing... Can't wait to put more time into everything we do and coming out with something great... Thank you so much for everything you have done for us it's been the most amazing five years and there's so much more to come."

Reports published on Tuesday (25Aug15) suggest their bandmate Harry Styles is already in talks with Sony record label bosses to sign a solo deal, and plans to relocate to Los Angeles to pursue acting roles.
