Thailand's Fifth Bangkok International Film Festival has been put on hold after the cinema scheduled to host the gala event refused to take part. The festival, which last year (05) boasted Oliver Stone, Willem Dafoe and Catherine Deneuve in attendance, was to run from 26 January until 5 February next year (07). But the venue earmarked to host the opening of the event withdrew its support because of "financial considerations". A spokesperson for the Tourism Authority Of Thailand (TAT), who help organise the festival, says, "The festival will be rescheduled to early July and TAT will announce the exact date early next month. "This unexpected decision has compelled TAT to significantly alter its preparations, which had been having good progress until the sudden position change by the theatre operator."
